ABSTRACT

In the last few years, the Jamahiriya has witnessed a great development renaissance in the economic and social fields that led to a remarkable increase in transportation mobility for both intra-as well as inter- cities. Consequently, and based on other factors such as increase of number of registered vehicles and population, one of the negative impact of the modern development in the field of traffic and transportation, was the traffic accidents and their causes of death and handicapped people. Since there are many variables that affect traffic accidents that composed of a complex set of factors that having different influences on the intensity and severities of accidents, It was found that the most important variables affecting to traffic accidents include the number of registered vehicles and population.
This paper aims to study these two variables as the primarily factors causing the traffic accidents in Libya. Many mathematical equations have been provided to develop correlated models that link the basic variables for traffic accident studies, such that number of accident deaths and their relationships with the number of registered vehicles and population by using linear regression technique. In addition, a comparison of Libyan accident death rates with international measures was considered. Based on the models results, the research concluded that the future accident death rates in Libya can be estimated.

الملخص

شهدت الجماهيرية في السنوات الأخيرة نهضة تنموية كبيرة في المجالات الإقتصادية والإجتماعية أدت إلى زيادة ملحوظة في الحركة والنقل سواء داخل أو خارج مدن الجماهيرية. وكنتيجة حتمية للنمو المتزايد في عدد المركبات وعدد السكان، فإنه من أهم النتائج السلبية على قطاع النقل زيادة عدد الحوادث المرورية وما ينتج عنها من وفيات وإعاقات. إن مسئولية وقوع مثل هذه الحوادث تشترك فيها عوامل عديدة تشكل في مجملها منظومة تتفاوت في تأثيرها على شدة وخطورة الحادث.
تهدف هذه الورقة إلى دراسة عدد السكان والمركبات المسجلة كمتغيرين مسببين في الحوادث المرورية بالجماهيرية، حيث تناولت دراسة العديد من النماذج الرياضية لإشتقاق علاقات تربط المتغيرات الأساسية والتي من بينها عدد الوفيات الناتجة من حوادث الطرقات وعلاقتها بعدد المركبات والسكان وذلك بإستخدام تقنيات خط الإنحدار بالإضافة إلى تحليل بعض النماذج لتقدير معدلات حوادث القتل في ليبيا ومقارنتها بالقياسات العالمية. كما أشارت نتائج الدراسة لوجود علاقة قوية بين عدد وفيات الحوادث المرورية وعدد المركبات المسجلة. وبناءً على نتائج تحليل العلاقات التي تم الوصول إليها، خَلُصَت الدراسة إلى إستنتاجات وتوصيات ترى أنها جديرة بالإهتمام للتنبؤ بعدد وفيات الحوادث المرورية المتوقعة مستقبلاً في الجماهيرية.
