Abstract

Velocity flows over rough beds are important in hydraulic engineering because almost all river beds are composed of sand grains and have complicated bed configuration like ripples. This study investigates mean velocity distribution of uniform turbulent flows over rough channel beds and compares these profiles with certain available models. Experiment results shows that velocity profiles can be estimated by certain theoretical models provided that some parameters are approximated and flow conditions are defined. The theory that some models are universal and can be used for all types of flows in the general sense cannot stand
